20th June 2016
It is with great pleasure that The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment can announce the assignment of a new Pipe Major.
Cpl Saroj Gurung has been a key member of The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment’s Pipes and Drums since he joined them in 2003. Since then, he has travelled the world, playing the bagpipes at numerous high profile events, representing the Regiment and the Brigade of Gurkhas with distinction throughout.
For the last few years Cpl Saroj has been the lead Piper in the Pipes and Drums, being the first choice representative at numerous Regimental events.
Today, 20th Jun 2016, Cpl Saroj Gurung was officially granted the title of Pipe Major Saroj Gurung. This is a superb achievement, and the first time a Pipe Major has been designated since the Regiment moved to the UK from Hong Kong.
Pipe Major Saroj Gurung will be the lead element of the Regimental Pipes and Drums, with responsibility for coordinating and leading them over the coming years. He will continue to hold this responsibility when he promotes to Sergeant later this year.
Shyabas Pipe Major Saroj Guruji!
Jai QOGLR ani Jai QOGLR Pipes and Drums!
